What makes you excited to start work each day?
I get excited to work each day, as every day presents its own rewarding problems to solve. Whether it be learning new software to aid in the automation of existing jobs, helping to solve production issues, or doing advanced profiling to seek insights into data.
Up until today, what’s the most significant accomplishment of your career?
One of the most important accomplishments of my career has been becoming the youngest TOGAF-certified professional while working as a Data Architect at US Bank. This certification gave me a much broader insight into Enterprise Architecture and how to work well with people from all walks of the process, from key business stakeholders to senior data engineers.
What inspired you to enter the technology field?
I was inspired to enter the technology field during my studies of mathematics at Augsburg University. As I wrapped up undergrad – I had set it to be a goal of mine to work with data in any way possible. This led me down the path of data architecture – and the rest is history.
What would you be doing if you hadn’t gone into technology consulting?
If I had not gone into tech consulting, I would still be working within a much larger organization as a Senior Data Architect and Modeler. These roles were challenging, but I wanted a change of pace and the ability to work with many different technologies and many different teams over the years to broaden not only my knowledge but also my network – which led me to Trissential.
What do you do when you’re not working?
When I am not working, you can find me outside. I love to kayak, cycle, snowboard, golf, and hike/explore with my wife & dogs. On rainy/snowy days I like to go bowling, make a new homebrew, or if I am feeling particularly driven take courses on a new technology that interests me.
What part of Trissential’s core values do you connect with best and why?
I really connect with all three core values – Passionately Professional, Humble Confidence, and Earned Trust. But, I connect best with Humble Confidence. I take pride in mastering new skills and being able to elaborate new ideas/new innovations to a given area/ However, I know that when working with a team everyone brings to the table their own insights and skills. Emphasizing other team members’ skills to aid in your own and vice versa really does allow for collective success, rather than seeking out individual praise.
Why did you choose to join Trissential?
For a change of pace & the ability to work with many different teams in many different industries over the years.
How would you describe Trissential in five words or less?
Professional, Humble, Skilled, Trust, Helping
